For Immediate Release
Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company to Appear at Fischer Hall in Frankenmuth with
Shakespeare’s
A Midsummer Night’s Dream

The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company, which is based in Grand Haven, Michigan,
will bring its production of Shakespeare’s beloved comedy
A Midsummer Night’s Dream to
the Fischer Hall, 613 South Main Street in Frankenmuth on February 7, 8, and 9.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m., with an additional matinee performance at 2:00 p.m. on
February 9.  Tickets to these performances are $12 general admission and $6 for students
and seniors.
The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company has been in existence since 1998.  The
company was founded by Chicago area actor and director Frank Farrell, who assembled a
cast of local West Michigan actors to perform outdoors in the county parks on the state’s
west side during the summer months.  The 2008 production of
A Midsummer Night’s
Dream
marks beginning of the company’s first year-round season of plays.  A Midsummer
Night’s Dream
will tour to several Michigan locations after opening at the Fischer Hall.
The company’s production style calls upon performance conditions which existed in
Shakespeare’s own time, most importantly, the plays’ interactive quality.  Like Shakespeare’
s own troupe of actors, the Pigeon Creek actors perform with the lights on in the audience
as well as on stage, and audience members may well find characters addressing them
directly.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is directed by Detroit native Heidi G. Grumelot.  Grumelot
recently completed her Master of Fine Arts in Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature at
Mary Baldwin College in Virginia, and since completing her degree she has worked as an
assistant director at the critically acclaimed American Shakespeare Center in Staunton,
Virginia.
       The plot of
A Midsummer Night’s Dream revolves around the intersection of the
human world with the world of magic and fairies.  Two pairs of lovers and a band of amateur
actors rehearsing a play are brought under the spell of the mischievous fairies of the
Athenian forest.  Confusion and comedy ensue.
