About the Production

What is the play about?

The play is a short (50-minutes) adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest.  It follows the powerful magician Prospero, who has been exiled on a mysterious island for 12 years.  When a ship encounters a storm and washes up on the island, new arrivals have comedic encounters with the island's inhabitants.

Is the play appropriate for children?

The play is appropriate for audience members of all ages, and features physical comedy and depictions of magic that will appeal to children's interest in visual storytelling.

Who are the actors and director?

Pigeon Creek’s actors come primarily from West Michigan and have extensive training and experience with performing Shakespeare and other classical plays.  Our cast will be announced closer to the performance dates of the show.  This production is directed by Pigeon Creek executive director Katherine Mayberry.

When and where will performances take place?

This production will open on May 5, and between May and July it will visit venues in Douglas, Ray Township, Curtis, Grand Haven, and Grand Rapids.  We will update this page with specific dates and times as the venues make ticketing information available.
