the Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company
Two summers ago, we produced Julius Caesar and
The Comedy of Errors, both of which toured to multiple
Michigan venues to fantastic audience response.  One
audience member wrote to us that they were “blown
away” and that “everyone involved with this production
should be so proud.”  Another said “I am once again
reminded why I love Shakespeare and the theatre.”

Julius Caesar went on Pigeon Creek’s first ever tour to
New York City, where the 12-person cast performed at
the Kraine Theater.  This is the third summer in a row
that Pigeon Creek has taken a production on out of
state tour, and we are very happy to provide this
opportunity to our regional actors.

In August of 2009, the company began rehearsals with
a select cast of high school students from Wayland
Union High School in Wayland, Michigan, for a
production of
The Winter’s Tale.  The high school
actors acted along side Pigeon Creek’s professional
actors, learning through apprenticeship in much the
same way that young actors did in Shakespeare’s own
lifetime.  Performances of
The Winter’s Tale occurred
in mid-September.  We are proud to continue helping
West Michigan’s students learn to love Shakespeare

In October of 2009, Pigeon Creek presented scenes
from
The Winter’s Tale and a full-length production of
Twelfth Night at the Shakespeare Connects!
Conference at Grand Valley State University.  We
thoroughly enjoyed sharing ideas about Shakespeare in
performance with the academic community at this
conference and are eager to participate again in 2011.

We concluded our 2009 season with a winter production
of
Pericles, and are then whipped through another
exciting 2011 season which included:
Hamlet, The
Tempest
, Henry V, and The Merry Wives of
Windsor
, as well as another high school residency;
special school matinees of
Hamlet at the Beardsley
Theater in Muskegon; and more staged readings of
plays by Shakespeare’s contemporaries in our “Early
Modern Others” series.

2011, however, we're upping the stakes again.  Our
seasons includes:
The Merchant of Venice,
Cymbeline (all-male cast), Henry IV, i (all-female
cast), Much Ado About Nothing (in high-school
residency),
and concludes with The Taming of the
Shrew.
Not to mention: Two Benefit Concerts, a
successful "Shakesperiment" of breakneck rehearsal for
A Midsummer Night's Dream and Twelfth Night, and
three (count them...three) staged readings as part of
our "Early Modern Others" series.  PHEW!

You can help support this exciting programming.  Your
generous donations will help to pay for our actors’ tour
expenses, for the ongoing workshops that our actors
conduct with high school and university students, and
for the actor contracts and other production costs that
make our performances possible. Pigeon Creek is a 501
(c)3 non-profit organization, and all donations to the
company are tax-deductible.  Please think of us as you
plan your charitable giving this year.

The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company is dedicated
to providing professional quality performances of
